The National Weather Service office in Peachtree City conducted a detailed aerial and ground investigation of the aftermath of the powerful tornado that dealt Newnan and Coweta County a major blow during the night hours of March 25 and March 26. The following is that official report: A violent, EF4 tornado that tracked 39 miles across Heard, Coweta and Fayette counties first formed near Redland Drive north of Ga. Highway 34 in Heard around 11:37 p.m. with only minor damage to trees.
Fayette approves 53-home rezoning on Dogwood Trail A 90-acre tract on Dogwood Trail at Crabapple Lane in unincorporated Fayette County was approved Dec. 10 by the Fayette County Commission for a 53-home single-family subdivision. The rezoning request asked that the 90.03-acre property be rezoned from A-R (agricultural residential) to R-50 (1-acre lots). The property is bordered on the north and west by Tyrone and to the south by Peachtree City. Representing the owner, developer Trent Foster noted that property in the past had been before Peachtree City and the county with proposals for up to 300 homes. The current proposal is for 53 homes.
