Town marks 150th anniversary of opening of its railway with 'Spud the loco'

The town’s branch line opened on February 8 1871 and closed in 1966. Finnegan A DRINK-DRIVER jailed for eight years and eight months for causing the deaths of a couple by ploughing into their vehicle on the A59 near Skipton has had his sentence challenged as unduly lenient. Thomas Finnegan, 29, was locked up at Bradford Crown Court on January 4 after his Mercedes Vito van smashed into a Nissan Juke being driven by Mark Gregson shortly before 10pm on January 24 last year.
