Updated Jan. 8, 2021 3:07 pm ET Coronavirus restrictions sent illegal border crossings into the European Union down to levels last seen in 2013, although thousands of migrants pursued more dangerous routes that were rarely used before the pandemic. The number of illegal border crossings into the EU dropped 13% in 2020 to 124,000, according to preliminary data collected by Frontex, the EU border control agency.
