The population of the Greater Kenmare area is aging faster than the rest of Kerry and by 2051 it is expected that 28% of the population will be aged 65 years and over.
There possibly could not have been any worse weather conditions than that faced by the thousands of cyclists at the Ring of Beara this year but the wind and rain just made those medals all the more important.
Summer arrived in style this week and just in time for the thousands of cyclists who took part in this year's Ring of Beara which has been deemed another huge success.
