MNRF: Kenora Fires Under Control
Under Control. That’s how the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry now views Kenora Fires 25 and 30. Both are burning east of town near Willard Lake, and have been active since May 17th and May 18th respectively. As of 12:00 pm CST the MNRF says Kenora 25 is 2,062 hectares in size, while Kenora 30 is 1,162 hectares. The only other active fire in the Kenora zone, Kenora 27, is north of Minaki and is also under control at 4,480 hectares. The fire hazard across the northwest is mostly moderate to high.
