The Kerala High Court also made pertinent observations on the jurisdiction of the police and trial courts when it comes to crimes occurring outside the local territorial limits.
The Court was dealing with petitions concerning police misconduct, including one filed by the KHCAA after a police officer was said to have verbally abused an advocate in Palakkad.
"Such an order only reflects the competence of the persons who are manning such an important Tribunal. The Order shows the lack of basic understanding of the law," the Kerala High Court added.
The Court was considering a plea in which a bail applicant claimed that he was not able to secure bail because trial courts were demanding that he produce different sureties for each of the 1726 crimes filed against him
The Court expressed its doubts as to the veracity of the allegations against the man detained under the KAAPA and summoned the man and his parents to the Court before arriving at its decision.
