Adopt global standard to ensure road traffic safety, food delivery service companies told

KUALA LUMPUR: Employers especially those in the food delivery service should pay close attention to the safety of their employees, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye. The Alliance for Safe Community chairman said such employers or companies should adopt ISO39001, which is a global standard for the road traffic safety management. The system is important as it symbolises the commitment of companies in managing road traffic safety for their employees. Road traffic safety management should be the responsibility of the employer or organisation. it should not be left to the employee alone, he said when contacted on Monday (April 5). Lee said ISO39001 is a form of guideline to help prevent and reduce the risk of road related deaths or serious injuries.

DBKL to discuss partial closure of KL wholesale market on Wednesday

PETALING JAYA: Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (Jan 20) evening to discuss safety measures to be taken at Pasar Borong Kuala Lumpur in Selayang following a surge in Covid-19 cases detected there. DBKL Corporate Planning Department director Khairul Azmir Ahmad said the meeting involving representatives of the National Security Council and Health Ministry will also look into closing certain sections of the market. “Closure here does not necessarily mean that the whole market will be closed. We might close some sections to make way for sanitisation. We will have to look closer at the number of Covid-19 infections at each of the fish, meat and vegetables sections, ” he said when contacted.

All DBKL parks, playgrounds to close from Wednesday (Jan 13)

A DBKL statement said the closure was in view of the movement control order announced by the government. Some of the parks that will be closed include Taman Rimba Kiara, Taman Botani Perdana and Taman Metropolitan Kepong. The closure comes despite some flexibility given for leisure activities including jogging and cycling as announced by Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob Ismail on Tuesday (Jan 12).
