Onion harvest ending predicting bumper production in Rangpur

RANGPUR, April 29, 2021 (BSS) – Onion harvest is nearing completion with excellent yield rate predicting a bumper production of the spicy crop making farmers happy in Rangpur agriculture region this season.
Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) at its regional office Agriculturist Khandker Abdul Wahed said farmers are reaping better profits from selling their newly harvested onions in all five districts of the region.
Market sources said farmers are selling their newly harvested local variety onion at rates between Taka 1,300 and Taka 1,400 per mound (every 40 kgs) to local middlemen and wholesalers.
Aush rice cultivation gets momentum in Rangpur region

RANGPUR, April 26, 2021 (BSS) – Cultivation of Aush rice as an additional crop during the off-season between Boro rice harvest and Aman rice seedling transplantation gets full momentum now in Rangpur agriculture region.
Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said cultivation of less irrigation water consuming and short duration Aush rice is expanding following various pragmatic steps taken by the government during the last eight years.
The steps include distribution of intensives in terms of high yielding varieties of Aush rice seeds and fertilisers free of cost, conducting motivational campaigns and providing technical support to farmers.
Boro rice harvest begins in Rangpur agriculture region

RANGPUR, April 24, 2021 (BSS) – After exceeding the fixed farming target, farmers have started harvesting of Boro rice with a hope to achieve its bumper production this season in the agriculture region.
Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said farmers are getting an excellent yield rate of Boro rice at this initial stage of harvesting as the process will get full momentum from mid-May next in all five districts of the region.
Earlier, the DAE had fixed a target of producing 21.54 lakh tonnes of clean Boro rice (32.31 lakh tonnes of paddy) from 4.96 lakh hectares of land for the region this season.
Bumper mango production likely in Rangpur region

The process of tender fruit’s formation on mango trees continues smoothly predicting its bumper production in the region’s all five districts this season.
The DAE officials said the fruit setting stage is progressing fabulously amid favorable climatic conditions giving mango trees eye-catching looks in orchards and homesteads across the region.
Currently, farmers of the region have engaged maximum efforts in nursing and spraying their growing tender mangoes in Rangpur, Gaibandha, Kurigram, Lalmonirhat and Nilphamari districts.

RANGPUR, Apr 17, 2021 (BSS)–Healthier growth of tender litchi amid favourable climatic conditions predicts a bumper production of the juicy fruit in all five districts of Rangpur agriculture region.
Officials of the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) said outstanding blossoming in litchi trees followed by smooth formation of tender fruit has made farmers happier and more hopeful of reaping huge profits this year.
They said more 95 percent of litchi trees in small, medium and big-sized litchi orchards and homesteads on over 1,850 hectares of land have bloomed massively this season in the region where the fruit formation continues smoothly now.
