The magistrate could identify four police persons — police inspector A V Parmar, police sub-inspector D B Kumavat, police constable Rajubhai Rameshbhai Dabhi and head constable Kanaksinh Laxmansinh DAbhi — and could ascribe specific roles.
The NBDSA held that in the first episode, the anchor crossed the "threshold of impartiality" by making communally polarising statements. In the second, the body observed that the anchor condemned the entire Muslim community for the actions of a few miscreants who were accused of pelting stones at a garba event in Kheda.
“...it is only with a view to maintain peace and harmony that the suspects were cornered,” the SP's affidavit says.
"Do those pelting stones have a religion? Shouldn't there be human rights for those hit by stones? Then why every time the issue of human rights is raised in favour of those hurling stones? This is a point to be considered," he said.
Director General of Police Ashish Bhatia said, “We have ordered an inquiry into the policemen seen in the video. Action will be taken only after the inquiry.”
