The Institute of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura has already commenced genetic analysis research to determine whether variations in the viral variations have occurred of coronavirus infections reported in Sri Lanka.
Director of the institute Dr. Chandima Jeewandara stated that the relevant research is being carried out using biological samples provided to the institute for PCR testing and samples sent by the Ministry of Health.
The Institute of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura has been conducting PCR tests since March and around 80,000 tests have been carried out so far.
