Last January, the Kimberley Food Hub Group, which is a coalition of local organizations who are concerned about food sustainability in Kimberley, presented to council.
There are a significant number of people in Kimberley working on making sure all Kimberley and area households have access to healthy, nutritious and affordable food.
You’ve probably heard about the great work being done by the Healthy Kimberley Food Recovery Depot – we address food waste and food insecurity by collecting food that would have been discarded by grocery stores, restaurants, gardeners and others and divert it to people in the community to enjoy instead! We currently divert about 10,000 lbs of food and have professional chefs create 300 prepared meals every month working with up to 20 other community agencies.

Kimberley City Council Report
On May 25, City of Kimberley council held its regular bi-monthly meeting.
Councillors Kyle Dalum, Kent Goodwin, Nigel Kitto, Darryl Oakley and Sandra Roberts were present along with Mayor Don McCormick. Coun. Jason McBain was absent.
Councillors attended the meeting in-person;, however, the press and public were not allowed in Council Chambers.

McDougall Park
The city received 39 written submissions regarding the proposed KEGG (Kimberley Edible Gardens and Greenhouse Society) community garden to be located in McDougall Park. Most of these residents were opposed to the garden for a variety of reasons.
