Jio aims to achieve pan-India coverage for AirFiber in the first half of 2024. Rival Bharti Airtel, too, plans to expand its wireless high-speed broadband services beyond 25 cities
Bharti Airtel is deploying fixed wireless access (FWA) services in 25 cities. The full-scale impact is anticipated in the second quarter, crucial for 5G monetization and follows a standalone architecture approach like Reliance Jio.
Bharti Airtel: Fixed wireless access (FWA) is being seen as the crucial first use case in 5G that will enable telcos like Airtel and Jio to monetise the huge investments made on deployment of the technology, amidst telcos offering unlimited 5G speeds to mobile phone users.
Jio’s fixed wireless access (FWA) service, JioAirFiber, is now being offered across nearly 5,900 cities/ towns, with further ramp-up towards pan India coverage soon.
Reliance Jio: “JioBharat just in the short period after its launch is now seeing nearly 45% market share in the shipments which are happening on a month-on-month basis,” Thomas said. He described live TV playback via JioCinema on the JioBharat as a “hero use case”, and said that nearly 60% of the total UPI123 transactions are now contributed by JioBharat. UPI 123PAY is an instant payment system for feature phone users.
