Kenya s police watchdog has begun an investigation into reports that a baby died after officers on curfew duty refused to let a taxi go to hospital.
The four-month-old had developed breathing difficulties on Saturday and was rushed to a local hospital, the grandfather told the Nation newspaper.
Medics said the child needed to go to a referral hospital 25km (15 miles) away.
But officers at a roadblock allegedly refused to let them pass because of a Covid curfew.
Kenya has imposed a 22:00-04:00 curfew to curb a surge in coronavirus infections. ....

A student at Kisii’s Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) committed suicide after he found that his girlfriend was also involved with another
Preliminary reports into the incident indicated that the deceased student hanged himself in the girlfriend’s house after he was earlier involved in a scuffle with his girlfriend’s old lover.
Kitutu Chache South Sub-County, Police Commander Tom Achia said the deceased allegedly committed suicide using a rope at his girlfriend’s house in Bouti village on Tuesday night.
Achia explained that a physical fight ensued at the girlfriend’s house after the first boyfriend stormed into the house and found her with another man who left the two after the commotion. ....

Father of five babies born in Kisii wanted to become a priest

Douglas Nyaoko, the father of the five children born at a Kisii hospital on Thursday afternoon, had a dream to join priesthood before he married at 23.
Speaking at the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital while visiting his wife, Sellah Nyanchera, Nyaoko a plumber in Kisii town, said he was happy that his wife had finally delivered after months of painful nights.
According to the father, during his early days, he lived at the Kisii Cathedral and had dreamt of joining seminary school. However, his dreams were cut short after some of his family members warned him that they were not going to pay his fees should he proceed with his plan to train and become a priest. ....
