Contagious. we don't know whether it causes severe disease or mild disease. that's going to take a little while to sort out, because it's still early days. we've only really known about this for about naive days and a bunch of it has been our whole thanksgiving weekend talking to people in south africa trying to get all the information we could. will it turn out this is a virus for which our current vaccines don't provide protection? that's the big question. we'll know that in about two or three weeks. a combination of lab studies and field studies. but there's a reason to be pretty optimistic...
