Pusan National University study suggests that
Long-term exposure to air pollutants has been linked to an increased risk of acute kidney injury (AKI), even at low concentrations. This increases the need for hospitalization. According to a new study using a cohort of more than 61 million Medicare beneficiaries in the United States, exposure to air pollutants, specifically, fine particulate matter, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide, is associated with first hospital admission for AKI. The findings provide implications for updating public health-related policies.
