The National Drought Monitor shows most of Wichita County is in an Extreme Drought while the rest of the region is considered extreme or severe.

Rain, rain and more rain this week The forecasts for Wichita Falls and North Texas have rain nearly as far as the eye can see. Rain is likely day and night through at least Sunday, prompting the National Weather Service to place the region in a Flood Watch through Wednesday morning. "Several rounds of heavy rainfall are expected today through Wednesday morning," the NWS said. "Many locations will receive 2 to 4 inches of total rainfall during this time, and some locations near the Red River may receive over 6 inches." City to offer grazing, hunting leases Staff reports The City of Wichita Falls is offering to the general public by sealed bid two commercial grazing leases and two hunting leases located at Lake Kickapoo. The city is also offering one commercial grazing lease at Lake Arrowhead. The grazing leases and hunting leases at Lake Kickapoo are situated on the same tracts of land, but will be bid separately.  Sealed bid packages are available at the office of Property Administration, Room 107, 1300 7th Street.
