Councilman Mike Bathke apologized to the residents of Ward 3 for his past approval of an agenda item for a housing development he's strongly opposed and explained why he voted the way he did.
The new zoning layout of the development entails switching all the portions that were previously for planned unit development (PUD) into a residential 3 zoning district.
Mayor Bob Everson said selling additional land surrounding Lake Mitchell isn't "set in stone," but noted another near $1 million for future lake restoration work could provide solid funding boost.
"We would like to make sure all the traffic is not funneled down all the way down Eighth Avenue or Bridle Drive,” nearby resident Pam Bathke said.
