Keeneye: In politics, you don’t shut your door prematurely. In doing so, you will come across as arrogant to the public.
Of course, the political purists will say that the party which is willing to consider working with other parties who are opposing it as being unprincipled or opportunistic.
The real test is really about working together to serve the country or to serve the political leaders’ self-interest, and looking at Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, one cannot blame the people for their dim view on opportunistic and unprincipled political leaders.

Similarly, most Malaysians, whether government or opposition-leaning, share the perception that despite their pious protestations, many public agencies have become the cat’s paw to ruling parties, rather than serving the government of the day.
But at this junction, we must part, sir, when you proceed to claim that selective investigation was the reason for Kuala Langat MP Dr Xavier Jayakumar becoming a turncoat.

PETALING JAYA: Despite three MPs leaving the party recently, PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he still has "adequate numbers''.

DURING the 12th General Election in 2008, PKR contested in 11 seats in Sarawak and won zero.
“It was rock bottom for Sarawak PKR. But it never deterred us. We were used to maintaining the struggle with minimum resources, ” recalled a Sarawak PKR insider.
That perseverance was rewarded. In GE13 in 2013, the party established a foothold in the Land of the Hornbills when it won the Miri parliamentary seat.
In GE14,2018, PKR quadrupled its parliamentary seats in Sarawak when it won Miri, Puncak Borneo, Saratok and Selangau. It also increased the number of MPs from Sarawak when independent MPs, Larry Sng of Julau and Jugah Muyang, joined the party.

PETALING JAYA: More Opposition MPs are expected to leave their parties and declare their support for the ruling Perikatan Nasional government, say Federal Territories Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa and other leaders.
Annuar said he was made to understand “seven or eight more Opposition MPs” may defect to Perikatan in the coming days, citing the government’s “stellar performance in tackling Covid-19”.
“Most importantly, if this government performs, then more will be prepared to support us, ” he told reporters after a walkabout at the Young City Entrepreneurs Kiosk and Anjung Floria in Putrajaya yesterday.
Annuar declined to name the MPs or the parties they are from.

Datuk Xavier has declared his support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government as an independent.
Though he has been with PKR since its early days in 1998, Mr Xavier said he had grown "extremely frustrated" by events over the past year amid calls to hold an election, which he described as unnecessary during an ongoing pandemic.
"Our current priority should be to support the government in containing the Covid-19 pandemic, to create jobs, and to secure funds to rebuild the economy," he said in a statement. He was minister of water, land and natural resources when the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition won power in the May 2018 general election

I trust these politicians who have had decided that the pasture over the other side is much greener will refrain from using the old cliche, “I did it for the people.”
Really? Since when did you put the people before you? Did you actually conduct a poll with the people within your constituency before you made the leap of shame? If you did not, this goes to show what and who you really are.

PORT DICKSON: Julau MP Larry Sng Wei Shein and Tebrau MP Steven Choong Shiau Yoon were pressured into supporting Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin's Perikatan Nasional government, claims Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, adding that he would reveal details in due course.
Former PKR lawmakers Sng and Choong handed over their statutory declarations (SDs) in support of Perikatan to the Prime Minister on Sunday and stated that they will be “government-friendly Independents”.
Prior to this, Sng said he decided to leave PKR as there had been too much political instability in the past year.
He said his constituency was also the poorest in the country and the people were suffering because of the economic impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, loss of jobs, and declining income from low commodity prices.

Kuala Lumpur: Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said two PKR federal lawmakers have defected to the ruling Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.
Muhyiddin announced the defections shortly after photographs of him with Julau MP Larry Sng and Tebrau MP Steven Choong emerged online.
“Today, I received the statutory declarations from two Opposition Members of Parliament stating their support for the Perikatan Nasional government,” he said on Facebook.

He added that the SDs were delivered to him by the two defecting lawmakers after a gathering of the Cabinet to mark the one-year anniversary of the PN administration in Putrajaya.

PETALING JAYA: Two PKR MPs Larry Sng of Julau and Stephen Choong of Tebrau have left the party and declared their full support to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as independents, confirmed Sng.
Photos showing them posing with Muhyiddin and two ministers, who were formerly PKR bigwigs, circulated on social media, further confirming this.
When contacted, Sng said “Yes, we have left the party and declared our support for Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as an independent. I will give a full statement later.”
The latest development came after Sng announced that he had resigned as Sarawak state PKR chief yesterday (Feb 27) in a video conference with fellow party leaders.
