As we come to April 15, a number of major milestones in the first phase of Laurentian’s CCAA (Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act) process have been completed. While the steps taken have been difficult and impact many in the community, they were necessary to ensure the survival of the university. To accomplish these milestones, many stakeholders including academic senate representatives and our labour partners, worked through some incredibly challenging issues to present a path forward for the University.
At this juncture, materials are being finalized for filing with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice for an extension of the Initial Stay Order to allow Laurentian to continue to the next phase in the CCAA process. This includes additional financial support from our CCAA lender to continue to operate as Laurentian implements its plans to posit ....
