Woman dies in Warwick fire, may be been trying to save dog
She needed to find safety outdoors. But Shaylyn, a caring 37-year-old lunch aide and bus monitor in the Warwick school system, had a less selfish idea, according to her mother, Laurie Schoonmaker. She knew that Schoonmakers' chihuahua, Lilly, was still on the second-floor of the house, at 2 Chesterfield Ave. Up she went, Shaylyn's mother recalled Thursday afternoon as the family grappled with the sad aftermath.
