shield. there also appear to be at least two rifles there. that picture was taken at 11:52 a.m. that s just 19 minutes after the gunman first entered the school. and 58 minutes before officers took him down. now, there s another picture obtained by the texas tribune this time that shows multiple officers armed with rifles there. ballistic shields, multiple shields. and axe-like tools. most of which the tribune reports were never deployed. now, we must note, we do not know at what point in the standoff this image was taken. but it does seem by these images that police were well equipped to storm the gunman. and this is raising new questions and understandably new anger about the police response by uvalde officers. we re also learning that some officers on the scene questioned the plan, as confusion delayed the breaching of the classrooms with kids still inside. rosa flores is live in san antonio this morning. rosa, with the new images that really just delve further i ....
Developed over the last hour or so, police have moved into Columbia University to move those propalestinian demonstrators out of the building that they have occupied since last night, hundreds and hundreds of Law Enforcement course. But you can see have swarmed onto the campus or in the case of the screen, youre looking at right now, the picture youre looking at right now, just off campus, we have seen Law Enforcement move people onto buses, presumably under arrest. Weve also seen the police simply move people off the bus and let them go on their way. We have dean no violent encounters, but billy, between police and protesters as of now when we have seen police move into Hamilton Hall itself, that is the building that was occupied overnight by these protesters ....
Happening in the texas senate today, john, according to a law enforcement course close to the investigation, the head of texas dps is expected to bring in a physical door today, in to senate chambers, from robb elementary school. now, i m told this is not one of the doors from the classroom where the shooting happened. but, john, they re expected to use this door to show the locking mechanism of the doors in the school. john. there are still so many questions, rosa. and the reason is because there s such little transparency up until this point. rosa flores, you re asking all the questions. thanks so much for being there. and joining us now is former fbi deputy assistant director is peter strzok and cnn national security analyst juliette kayyem. she s the author of the devil never sleeps: learning to live in an age of disasters. i think one of the most disturbing things we re learning here, they had long guns and they had shields. ....
So sure, and i ll be curious what esther thinks as to really that shows one way or another. okay, so perhaps he was a good student in some type of law enforcement course and perhaps he was aware of the legal fact that he was not under an obligation or a duty to retreat unlike in certain other venues but, again, i don t necessarily see that helps or hurts one way or the other. i agree with all the experts who say that the prosecution s case may not have gone in all that well, but at the same time i don t think the defense is completely out of the water, and i can explain that more in a moment. arthel: well, esther, you jump in. should this testimony have defense on its heels? no. in fact, it doesn t hurt the defense, it doesn t help the defense. it doesn t do much of anything. i think what it does show, and i agree with doug that really there s no benefit, it shows that the prosecution s a little desperate, that they re reaching. they re trying to go back to say that many years before ....
