Regional tournaments got underway Thursday for baseball and softball in Arkansas. Cotter’s softball team punched its ticket to next week’s state tournament after their high-scoring opener in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Keller Park in Mountain Home. The Lady Warriors edged out Lavaca 16-15. Acorn will be Cotter’s next opponent in the regional semifinals. Yellville-Summit was eliminated by the Lady Tigers 11-1. The undefeated Green Forest Tigers dispensed all suspense Friday night by shutting out Life Way Christian 3-0 at Tiger Stadium. The game was scoreless until late in the first half when senior Lah Kpro scored to put Green Forest ahead 1-0. The Tigers put the exclamation point on their win with a pair of second-half goals — one each from sophomore Tony Gonzalez and senior Emerson Ortiz.
