Eight people were killed in Saturday's shooting at the notorious hostel in Umlazi after the unknown gunmen opened fire in a room where 12 people had gathered.
Nine men were drinking in the notorious Umlazi hostel on Saturday morning when unknown gunmen opened fire on them, declaring seven of the men dead on scene by police, and two sustaining serious injuries.
Friends and relatives of the Glebelands hostel murder victims said they expected harsher sentences to be handed down, especially for the man they regard as the 'mastermind' behind the reign of terror.
The eight men convicted of various crimes including murder are set to be sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg High Court for killings that took place from 2014 to 2016.
