Rnc did in referring to the events of the day as legitimate political discourse. they have balked at that and pushed back on that resolution. i had a chance to catch up with kevin mccarthy about this issue and about the fact that this resolution that censured adam kinzinger and liz cheney did mention legitimate political discourse in talking about the actions of this committee and talking about what happened in the run up to january 6th and on january 6th. he made very clear in his view, the rnc did the right thing. the rnc resolution last week referred to the events of january 6th as legitimate political discourse. that s not correct about what the rnc was talking about. everybody knows, anybody who broke in and caused damage, that was not called for and those people have said from the very beginning should be in jail. what they were talking about is the six rnc members who january 6th has subpoenaed who weren t even here who were in florida ....

We may come back to this later but for you, this is the state of play. right. what s interesting is that lower court was a three-judge panel and two of the three judges were trump nominees. so now this supreme court comes in and reverses that opinion. that opinion held that these maps violated the voting rights act and it diluted the power of african american voters. so that s what s going to be at issue here. and the majority, a 5-4 decision, and the majority came back and said, well, only two members of the majority spoke, kavanaugh and alito. they said all we re doing right now is preserving the status quo. we want to keep the status quo and then we re going to look at this issue next term and decide the bigger voting rights case. chief justice john roberts who sided with the liberals here, he said, look, this lower court really followed to a t so we should not have blocked that. liberals went further and said, look, you allow this map now, ....
