In 1997, nearly five million Lego pieces spilled into the ocean off the coast of Cornwall, England. The pieces, many of them coincidentally sea-themed, almost immediately started washing ashore — and 25 years on they still appear. Tracey Williams walks the beach in Cornwall several times a day, and finding the plastic building pieces has opened her eyes to the other things that wash ashore from the oceans. She’s written about her finds in her new book, Adrift: The Curious Tale of Lego Lost at Sea.
