A Helena man and formerly a Lewis and Clark County Detention Center officer was sentenced on March 20 for illegally possessing an unregistered machine gun.
The Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office issued a warning on its Facebook about a scam call with a person claiming to be a peace officer.
“There is somebody out there who had actually killed Michael Crites, who's still walking around, and my hope is that they find whoever that individual is and that they prosecute that person.”
He was 57 and lived in Helena, according to Lewis and Clark County Sheriff/Coroner Leo Dutton. The cause of death was listed as cardiopulmonary arrest.
