The matches held at tonight’s pre-NXT WWE 205 Live taping from the Capitol Wrestling Center were qualifying matches with the winners earning spots in the tournament. Matches taped were Guru Raaj vs. Andre Chase, and Desmond Troy vs. Joe Gacy. Chase is the new ring name for indie star Harlem Bravado, who signed with WWE back in February. A new North American Champion was crowned in the main event of tonight's NXT. Isaiah "Swerve" Scott defeated Bronson Reed tonight to become the new NXT North American Champion. After getting help from his Hit Row stablemates Top Dolla, Ashante "Thee" Adonis, and B-Fab, Scott hit a 450 splash to Reed's back and pinned him to win the North American title. A new North American Champion was crowned in the main event of this week's NXT. In a steel cage match, Bronson Reed defeated Johnny Gargano on NXT tonight to win the NXT North American Championship. After overcoming interference by Austin Theory, Reed hit two top rope splashes on Gargano to win the North American title. Reed refused to win the match by walking out of the door after the first splash and instead chose to hit his Tsunami splash on Gargano to get the pin.
