**LABUAN BAJO, Indonesia —** President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) must take decisive and responsive actions on geopolitical issues concerning the regional bloc, saying the regional bloc must continue improving its efforts to advance its welfare.

The 42nd ASEAN Summit opened on May 10 in Indonesia, with eight leaders of the regional bloc’s 10 full members and its Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn in attendance, along with Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, in an observer’s capacity. Indonesia assumed the ASEAN chairmanship this year, having received the symbolic gavel from Cambodia, who held the position in 2022.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of other ASEAN countries on May 10 engaged in dialogues with representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), the youth, the ASEAN Business Advisory Council (ABAC), and the High-Level Task Force (HLTF) on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision.
