This Friday, the Lansing School District will open the doors to one of its oldest buildings a final time for people to say goodbye.
The building now known as the Mt. Hope STEAM Magnet School, at 1215 E. Mt. Hope Ave. opened in 1949 but is set to be demolished and replaced in 2023.
As part of a grade reconfiguration, Lansing School District will move seventh- and eighth-grade students out of the high schools over three years.
After voters approved a $130 million bond, Lansing School District has started the process of transforming through new schools and air conditioning.
The 25-year bond will be used to rebuild four schools, renovate Sexton, and install air conditioning in every district classroom.
