The cleanup of the former Schilling Air Force Base took another step forward after the City of Salina is set to establish a fund to keep a settlement from the federal government sent to the Salina Public Entities (SPEs) of almost $68 million. The Salina City Commission approved, on first reading, an ordinance to establish the Former SAFB Environmental Project Fund during its meeting Monday.
