Cape senior Josiah Miller wins the shot put state championship. DAN COOK PHOTOS Tim Bamforth March 5, 2021 The Cape boys’ winter track team finished third in the state with 72.5 points, behind state champion Sallies with 117 points and runner-up Smyrna with 86 points. The Cape girls’ team finished fifth with 38 points. Padua took home the trophy with 178 points, followed by Ursuline with 82, Smyrna with 61 and Tatnall with 59 points. Cape thrower Josiah Miller won his first state individual title in the shot put with a toss of 46-feet-10-inches. Sophomore Ryan Baker ran his season and personal best in the 3,200 meters with a time of 10:02.96, good for second place. Junior John Small was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.72, while in the 200-meter dash, Ja’on Harris was fifth in 23.68 and Konner Knarr was seventh in 23.87.
