The fifth release candidate for version 5.13 of the Linux kernel has emerged, and project boss Linus Torvalds has expressed only mild concern about progress.
“Hmm,” opened Torvalds weekly State of the Kernel post. “Things haven t really started to calm down very much yet, but rc5 seems to be fairly average in size. I m hoping things will start shrinking now.”
Torvalds hasn’t found anything to worry him so far in the 5.13 release cycle.
The first release candidate saw him opine that the community could expect “a fairly big merge window, but things seem to have proceeded fairly smoothly. He added that assessment could represent “Famous last words.” ....

Nvidia and Valve working to get DLSS working on Linux via Steam Proton

Valve has been working to make PC gaming more accessible on Linux systems for a long time now, culminating in Steam Proton, a feature that allows almost any Windows game to run on Linux. Soon, Steam Proton may get an upgrade, as Nvidia is working with Valve to get DLSS working in games running on Linux via the tool.
As part of Nvidia’s Computex keynote, the company stated that it is working with “Valve and the Linux gaming community” in an effort to “bring Nvidia DLSS to Proton”. The implementation will allow Linux users to take advantage of the Tensor Cores on RTX GPUs to accelerate performance in supported games. ....
