Anything with the bluefin. les abend, another clue is the oil slick we talked about. you and i were at the press conference when they announced it. two liters were collected and on their way to mainland for testing now. will they be able to determine if the oil is specific to this plane? . my understanding is absolutely. it is very specific fluid from the engines themselves. there s about 20 quarts in each engine. there s hydraulic fluid. yeah, they should be able to make an easy analysis of what the other ridge nation vessel it is. hopefully we get confirmation the oil slick is related to this plane or not. are you concerned we aren t looking in the right place? yes, i am. i m hoping with you that the oil slick will prove to be something worthwhile as well as the other ....

Anderson? the fuel recovered from the search, is it related to the plane? have they been able to determine that yet? not yet, no. we have to remember, that search area is about 2,000 kilometers off the coast of western australia. they did pick up the two liters of oil they found floating out there near where the ocean shield is. they bottled that. what they have to do is get a ship out there and then helicopter it to that ship. the ship can get it closer in and then the helicopter will take off again to get it here to perth. they said it would take two or three days. in a day or so, we will know what that is. they have sent samples actually of the engine oil that would have been in mh-370 s engines so they can do a comparative analysis on that. they are also going to check to see if it could be hydraulic fluid, as well. still unanswered questions. even getting that back here is a bit of a journey, anderson. appreciate the update. i want to bring in the panel, ....

CNN The Situation Room April 14, 2014 22:13:00

That? well, there s a couple of factors. the tropical cyclone, jillian, hurricane, if you like, in the southern hemisphere, tropical cyclone, went through this area 3, 3 1/2 weeks ago, 190 mile an hour winds. it s an extraordinary twist of fate. it came from the north over the search area where the pingers are. then turned west. now, one of the things is it would have moved the debris to the west. but also, it would have pummeled that debris and broken it up and possibly sunk it as well. so, and of course, we are looking five weeks now after this airplane disappeared. so, you know, normally we find debris in the water. a few days after an air crash. but this is five weeks later. but on the subject of the oil, the other factor here is, this could be engine oil. each engine has about 20 liters of oil for lubricant and in this particular case, it s mobile jet ....
