Regan Dahm Regan Dahm knows that calling 911 for an emergency currently occurring can be stressful, scary and overwhelming. The Emergency Telecommunicators here at Logan Dispatch will have a calming voice to get you through the situation until responders arrive on scene. It is important to stay calm, listen and answer the questions asked by the Telecommunicator for us to collect accurate answers to pass along to the appropriate responding personnel, said Dahm. Please, have patience while speaking to the dispatcher even if it seems there is too many questions being asked. We assure you the response will not be delayed. Cathy Hopp According to Hopp it is always best when witnessing an incident that needs reported to report it as soon as possible. For example: Reckless driving, suspicious person, fireworks/gun shots etc. When doing so make sure you provide as much information as possible, such as vehicle make, model, color, license plate, clothing descriptions, number of individuals involved, direction of travel, location, or address of incident, said Hopp. This helps assure that we can get an officer where they are needed as quickly and safely as possible, as well as helping them find the responsible party for the incident as soon as possible to resolve the incident. ....
Lincoln Courier Logan County 911 Dispatch is celebrating National Public Safety Telecommuicators Week that runs April 12 – 17 with a needed change that will make the dispatchers job run smoother. Becky Langley, Logan Dispatch Operations Manager, said they will be switching to ProQA software system that will help guide the person on duty through a process of gathering information in order to send the right agency to help. “Our dispatchers now work with a flip book when dealing with an emergency while also trying to locate exactly where this emergency is taking place. With the new system it will give our dispatchers the location along with structured approach guide prompts so they can collect the right information needed,” said Langley. ....
