Marshall Helmberger LITTLEFORK— Ely exploded for 14 runs in the top of the seventh inning here as they rallied to top Littlefork-Big Falls in blustery conditions on Tuesday. The Vikings had been up 9-6 heading into the frame, but Ely ended up cruising to a 20-9 final score to improve to 9-10 on the season. Ely junior Harry Simons pitched four and two-thirds innings, scattering three hits and striking out five. But five unearned runs for the Vikings kept Simons from notching the win. That honor went to senior Will Davies who pitched an inning and a third in relief. Sophomore Gunnar Hart pit...

Junior Jacob Towley added two hits for Ely while scoring twice and driving in three runs. Ely benefitted from Mesabi East miscues, racking up several unearned runs in the five-inning contest. Ely jumped to an early lead, but a five-run t...
Marshall Helmberger CHISHOLM— Ely junior Harry Simons pitched a solid game here on Monday, but five Timberwolves’ errors helped the Bluestreaks to a 6-0 win. “We struggled at the plate and in the field,” said Ely Head Coach Frank Ivancich. “Harry pitched well enough to deserve a better fate in this game.” Indeed, Simons allowed just one earned run on six hits, while striking out seven Chisholm batters. Ely had plenty of opportunities to get on the scoreboard as it stranded ten runners. “We just couldn’t seem to produce a big hit to get them on board,” said Ivancich.
