A downtown plaza long envisioned by Logan Mayor Holly Daines has cleared all governmental hurdles, and the demolition of two Main Street buildings to make way for the multipurpose public space is expected to begin this winter. âIâm pretty excited after almost three and a half years of working towards this,â Daines said this week. âThe plaza will be a wonderful addition to our historic downtown and will be a community gathering place that creates action downtown again.â Funding for the bulk of the project was authorized in early March by the Logan Municipal Council, acting as the Logan Redevelopment Agency. Then last week, the plan gained unanimous approval from the last two regulatory bodies involved: the Logan Historic Preservation Committee on Monday and the Logan Planning Commission on Thursday. ....
