A LONG-SERVING chaplain at Poole Hospital and former president of the College of Health Care Chaplains has died suddenly at the age of 68. Canon Jane LLoyd (née Naylor), who established, led and has been at the forefront of the chaplaincy at Poole Hospital for over 30 years, died at home on April 12, following a short battle with cancer and treatment at the hospital. Described as a “visionary” by her husband Canon Nigel LLoyd, Jane used her position at the hospital to start up the bereavement centre at Poole Centre, in particular the area of neo-natal death. Having started out as an industrial chemist, she and Nigel met when they trained alongside each other at the Lincoln Theological College in Lincoln.
THE opening of new operating theatres at Poole Hospital has been delayed by two months after asbestos was discovered during construction work. University Hospitals Dorset started the major project earlier this year with the aim its new five-storey block be completed in 2023. But the discovery of asbestos in the existing building has forced the trust to put work on hold – a move that is expected to cause a nine-week delay. Full planning permission for the project was granted by BCP Council last year as part of a £150 million overhaul of NHS services in the county, despite attracting hundreds of objections.

Officers circulated Aaron Smith s details after he was last seen at the Longfleet Road hospital at 4.55pm yesterday. VOLUNTEERS are needed to help run the Lewis Manning Hospice Care charity shop in Christchurch. Lewis Manning Hospice Care runs charity shops in Westbourne, Wimborne, Ashley Cross and Christchurch to support the work it does. The Christchurch charity shop opened in July 2020. At that time Lewis Manning director of finance and operations said: We are thrilled to open this new addition to our charity shop chain. Our charity shop income has been hit hard during lockdown, but we’ve been overwhelmed by the wonderful generosity of people from our local communities who have continued to think about us, despite their own personal challenges.

1/1 HUNDREDS of hospital workers and residents paid tribute and applauded the funeral cortege of a Poole Hospital employee who died with coronavirus. With a restricted number of people were able to attend his funeral at Poole Crematorium on Monday March 8, Krzysztof’s family arranged for his funeral cortege to stop outside Poole Hospital en route. Many people lined Longfleet Road as a guard of honour, and a heartfelt applause broke out as the procession made its way from the junction of Fernside Road and the B3068 in the direction of the hospital. One resident said: “It is so sad, it sounded like he was a really nice guy and a loving husband and father.

Krzysztof Gogolewski, who worked at Poole Hospital s maternity unit, died on February 16. His funeral is due to be held at Poole Crematorium on Monday March 8 but due to Covid-19 restrictions there are strict limitations on the number of people who can attend. So his family has arranged for his funeral cortege to stop outside Poole Hospital en route. A guard of honour will be formed outside the Longfleet Road entrance to the hospital. Krzysztof, 63, became ill several weeks before is death. He had not received the coronavirus vaccination. Following his death, his wife, Margaret, and daughter, Marta Saganowska, paid tribute to him.
