Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 26 (EMN): A top notch free kick from forward Bapin Yemjon gave Telongjem a 2-1 win over Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club (MMSC) in the Mokokchung District Football Trophy final to claim the major title for the second consecutive time at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Wednesday. Bapin’s 74th minute set piece was enough to upset the stubborn MMSC who were determined to go the extra mile with 1-1, just a few minutes away to 90 minutes. MMSC was going to suffer a blow in the starting minutes when goalkeeper Imsutoshi unintentionally landed outside the D-box and caught the ball; luckily the referee awarded only a yellow. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 22 (EMN): Moanungsang Memorial Sporting Club (MMSC) got the better of Longpa Lomuden 5-4 via tie-breaker in the first semifinal match of the Mokokchung District Football Association (MDFA) trophy 2022 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex in Mokokchung on Saturday. The lively and entertaining contest finished in a goalless draw and in the resultant penalty shootout, MMSC scored their first five attempts. Molutsupong, Temsutoshi, Limakumzuk, Imsumanen and Inovi Chishi made no mistake from the spot to secure MMSC a place in the finals. MMSC dominated the first half, committing many offences in search of a leader, but a five-man Longpa defence proved impenetrable. Longpa Lomuden had a fantastic defensive attitude throughout the game, trouncing the fast-paced MMSC side and impressing the fans. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 21 (EMN): Defending champions Telongjen FC frustrated OCYU in a 6-0 thriller on Friday to book a semi-final berth at the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2022 played at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung. Despite the absence of their scoring machine Yhunshalo Kemp, Telongjen’s playmakers Kakevi Assumi, Supnglemba and Sentilong scored a brace each to bring OCYU players to their knees. In the initial stage of the match, OCYU kept their defense line intact and thwarted Telongjem’s offensive. However, Kakhevi Assumi made a breakthrough in the 25th minute via a superb header through a rebound from Purwati’s strike. Two minutes later, he scored a brace courtesy a penalty kick award after his teammate Lanutoshi was challenged by OCYU defender. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 17 (EMN): Mongsenbai FC defeated Longpa Lomuden FC 4-0 in the pool B winner deciding match at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung on Monday. Imnatoshi and Vinoka Aye scoring in the 21st and 31st minutes gave Mongsenbai the 2-0 lead before the break. After the breather, Longpa Lomuden tired to give a stiff contest but Mongsenbai’s style of play displayed superb domination. Mongsenbai FC again extended its scoreline in the 49th minute in the game through Temjenmeren; and Lolenyuba wrapped the match by scoring in the 52nd minute to clinch the Pool B winner title with a thumping 4-0 win. Our Correspondent Mokokchung, Oct. 14 (EMN): Longpa Lomuden FC’s Lanusunep early strike sealed a 1-0 win against Marepkong Youth Association in the ongoing MDFA Trophy 2022 at Imkongmeren Sports Complex, Mokokchung, on October Friday. With two consecutive losses, Marepkong Youth Association (MYA) are out of the tournament from Pool B while Longpa Lomuden FC and Mongsenbai FC will face off on October 17 to contest for the pool B winner and runner-up slots. MYA pushed all their strength into attacking mode during the whole match but lacked the finishing touch, which foiled their efforts for the much-needed win.
