As kwaito music rose meteorically in the 1990s, so did its accompanying fashion trends. With a finger firmly on the pulse of the budding subculture Sechaba Mogale and Wandi Nzimande were the hands that wove magic creating their iconic brand, Loxion Kulca.
Moving the growing empire from the boots of their cars to the ramps of SA Fashion Week, Loxion Kulca produced  must-have items. On its  return in 2019, Loxion Kulca was set to dominate another generation of  urban fashion lovers. The fairytale came to a jolting halt when Nzimande died  this year. ..

After a tumultuous year that was 2020 thanks to the arrival of the coronavirus, many people looked forward to 2021 with great hope.
But several days into January 2021, many South Africans experienced a greater loss with family members, friends and colleagues losing their battle with Covid-19, other health ailments or unfortunate accidents.
Almost every day, we hear of the passing of someone we know, love or admire.
The past few weeks have been hard on the entertainment industry with the loss of many icons including veteran actor Sam Phillips; award-winning actress Lindiwe Ndlovu; music legend Isaac Kori Moraba; Loxion Kulca's co-founder and popular DJ Wandile “DJ 1D” Nzimande; food writer, author and editor Dorah Sitole; veteran broadcaster Kabelo 'KB' Molopyane of Motsweding FM and former Ukhozi FM station manager Welcome 'Bhodloza' Nzimande.

Mzwandile “Wandi” Nzimande, the co-founder of the local street brand, Loxion Kulca, was laid to rest on Monday, January 18.
Nzimande died on Wednesday, January 13, at the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg after being diagnosed with Covid-19.
One of his close friends Ole Ledimo, the founder of House of Ole, took to Instagram to bid his friend farewell.
He wrote: “VanD1... my n****r my idol. Like you said after Bob Mabena’s passing ‘not many people get to work with idols.’ I’m blessed enough to have worked with you Mr Nzimande.

Mzwandile Nzimande, popularly known as DJ 1D died on Wednesday after testing positive for Covid-19. 
"He was known to all as a true friend and brother," said a statement released by the family.
He leaves behind his wife Hlapo, three daughters Senzi, Zandi and Zwelethu, and two brothers Bheki and Ayanda.

family in a statement said: "He sadly passed away on Wednesday, the 13th January 2020 at 9:00 at the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg after being diagnosed positive with Covid-19." 
The Kaya FM resident DJ was the co-founder of popular streetwear and lifestyle brand Loxion Kulca.

Johannesburg - The death of Mzwandile ‘Wandi’ Nzimande, 44, a local designer and co-founder of popular streetwear and lifestyle brand Loxion Kulca, has gripped the hearts of many South Africans.
He died this past Wednesday, from the deadly Covid-19 virus that has claimed more than 35 000 lives in South Africa to date.
This week alone, South Africa recorded extremely high numbers of deaths due to the virus, with an alltime high of 806 deaths on Wednesday and 712 on Thursday. Nzimande’s death was confirmed by Kaya FM that Wednesday evening, where he was also a resident DJ known as DJ 1D.

As Mzansi continues to mourn the loss of Kaya FM's much loved Mzwandile “DJ 1D”  Nzimande, his family have confirmed that the DJ died after testing positive for Covid-19.
DJ 1D died on January 13 at the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg, aged 44. 
Social media and mainstream media platforms have been flooded with condolences from fans, friends and industry mates, as they sang praises of the man most described as humble.
Wandi was the co-founder of popular streetwear and lifestyle brand Loxion Kulca and a resident DJ on Kaya FM for more than 10 years. He was known to all as a true friend and brother.

Fashion director and Kaya FM DJ Mzwandile “Wandi” Nzimande has died at the age of 44.
EWN reports that Nzimande passed away on Wednesday morning at the Olivedale Clinic in Johannesburg after contracting Covid-19.
Nzimande is famed for co-founding Loxion Kulca, one of SA’s most sought-after streetwear brands, together with Sechaba Mogale in 1999.
