MARQUETTE — COVID cases continue to rise in four eastern Upper Peninsula counties. Mackinac County added the most cases throughout April with 131 cases, followed by Luce County with 100 cases. Alger and Schoolcraft Counties each increased by a total of 47 cases, according to the Luce, Mackinac, Alger, Schoolcraft District Health Department. May 8, 2021 Delta County reported only three more confirmed COVID-19 positives and Menominee County only one new case Friday, data from local health officials showed. The Public Health of Delta and Menominee Counties website update Friday also listed two new probable cases in Delta County and one in Menominee County. No new deaths were recorded in either county. May 7, 2021 LANSING — A former attorney who lost his license due to a criminal conviction has pleaded guilty to additional charges, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel announced. Charles Malette, 40, is a former attorney in the Chippewa County area. His license was revoked following a trial conviction for aggravated stalking last year. On Tuesday, Malette pleaded guilty to one count of perjury, a 15-year felony, as well as one count of felony false pretenses, a five-year felony.
