Numsa is embroiled in a legal battle with Saftu president Ruth Ntlokotse, whom it expelled as a member earlier this month as it accuses her of defying directives of the union regarding its leadership preference for Saftu during the federation's congress last year, among other charges.
Ntlokotse, formerly Numsa second deputy president, was expelled from the union last week amid various allegations levelled against her which she all denies but has announced her intention to appeal her expulsion
Numsa has now given Vavi until Thursday to give reasons he should not be recalled from Saftu over the allegations of bringing the union into disrepute and spreading lies against its leadership.
SA Federation of Trade Unions president Ruth Ntlokotse was informed by the National Union of Metalworkers of SA that it would proceed with a disciplinary hearing against her for misconduct.
