Lake Macquarie Business Growth Centre future secured

Lake Macquarie City Council The future of the Lake Macquarie Business Growth Centre (BGC) and small business incubator has been secured, with the Central Coast Community College officially taking over the management of the centre. Located in Gateshead, the BGC was established in 1998 operating as a not for profit organisation to support and grow small and micro businesses in Lake Macquarie City. Chair of the BGC Board Peter Hesse said he is proud of what the Business Growth Centre has achieved in the last 23 years, nurturing many local startups into successful enterprises and contributing to the local economy. “We’re proud of our many achievements and all the small businesses we’ve supported over the years. Bringing the Central Coast Community College on board ensures that the incubator is positioned to prosper and be sustainable long term and means that the BGC will be able to support even more local businesses in the future,” Mr Hesse said.

Hunter s first library museum gets the go ahead

The Hunter’s first library museum has been given the go ahead in Lake Macquarie.  Council approved the development application at last night’s Council meeting for the construction of the library museum that will eventually become home to the Edgeworth library. Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said the Sugar Valley Library Museum at Cameron Park would be an engaging, innovative cultural destination at the forefront of public libraries in the region, with the capacity to exhibit thousands of historically significant items. “I’m excited to see this new community hub bring together innovative technology, traditional library services and a dynamic program of events and exhibitions,” Cr Fraser said.

Council adopts plans to revitalise Toronto s foreshore

Lake Macquarie City Council A revitalised foreshore featuring a continuous waterfront pathway, an expanded playground, a new town green, improved connections and an expanded cafe area is a step closer for Toronto, with Councillors resolving to adopt the Toronto Foreshore Master Plan on Monday night. Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said the revitalisation of the foreshore will help to connect the main streets of Toronto to the lake’s foreshore while providing opportunities for people to get outdoors and enjoy an active lakeside lifestyle. “The Master Plan provides the blueprint for a significant transformation of the Toronto foreshore into an attractive and vibrant recreational destination,” Cr Fraser said.
