First Lady, Madam, Monica Chakwera said she was determined to advance efforts to address infertility among women and support girls aspirations in education in
the country.
She made the remarks on Thursday when she presided over Merck More Than a Mother Media Recognition Awards Presentation to three Malawian journalists at Sanjika Palace in Blantyre.
The journalists include Memory Kutengule Chatonda for Mana who won in Print Category, Happy Njalammano, Zodiak Broadcasting Station (ZBC) for online category and Linda Banda for Chanco Radio who emerged winner on radio category.

Chakwera said since assuming the role of Merck More Than a Mother in 2020, her office has worked closely with Merck Foundation to define the right strategy to build healthcare capacity, empower women with infertility and support girls’ education in Malawi.

Madam Chakwera has joined the Conference from Kamuzu Palace Via Zoom.
The First Lady is being joined by Gender Minister Patricia Kaliati and Ms Aurelie Valtat Charge D’Affaires, European Union Delegation to Malawi.
In the morning, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera hosted President of Botswana, Mokgweetsi E. K. Masisi where the two leaders discussed a number of issues aimed at strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries.
After the bilateral talks, the two leaders held a joint media briefing.
Meanwhile Masisi has left the country.

President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has finally arrived in Mzuzu where he is scheduled to carryout a number of activities.
State House Press Officer Brian Banda has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.
“His Excellency the State President, Dr Lazarus Chakwera and the First Lady, Her Excellency, Madam Monica Chakwera have arrived in Mzuzu,” reads in part the statement.
Chakwera will tomorrow be installed as Mzuzu University Chancellor and later on virtually preside over the 22nd graduation ceremony, according to information at hand.
Initially, the graduation was scheduled for January 10, 2021 but it was canceled due to a surge in COVID-19 cases.
