Events and protests around this issue over the years since the tragedy that occurred in your family. this one was unusual. no adults speaking on the stage. you would have been one of the adults that would speak on stage like this normally. what did you make of that particular choice today? i think it was really powerful. i don t think there was anybody under over 18 on that stage. the con tetent, i think it was powerful. so impactful. they got an amazing message across. we are in the midst of 800,000 people who are all speaking the same language and the same message. it was incredible. jordan, what made you want to be here in washington today? what made me want to be here is that i m tired of going to school and being afraid. i could have just stayed in orlando but so could have the parkland kids. i need to come up here and ....
Honest, mainly republicans blocked the most mild reforms. so the cynicism rose up. what i liked hearing today in all the speeches was the anger. but it was no anger tied to cynicism. it was anger tied to energizing and let s do something about it. anger can be positive or negative. in this instance they re channelling it in a positive way and, you know, we ve all become cynical here in washington. it s easy for a teen-ager to be cynical. i remember how cynical i was. but their ability to rise about this tragedy being take that anger and make it an nobling emotion, they haven t made one wrong move. their strategizing and messaging has been spot on and as they said today, this is a start. ....

Authenticity and i ve really been inspired and blown away and it comes from their leadership from these kids. yeah. the first one, the first washington protest i was at, i was in high school. i was in the car driving down with my brother. vietnam war protest. i met some kids who rode down from boston on a bus at midnight. riding back to a bus. i met kids from texas, colorado, everywhere. no one knows more about this phenomenon of school shootings than you do of having written the book about columbine. these kids weren t born yet when columbine occurred. have you been sitting there for years now wondering when this was going to happen or were you able to see what it was going to take for this to happen? i was totally waiting for something. that s the question i get asked the most. for many years after columbine ....
