Truck ban back starting next week, says MMDA

“In view of the [GCQ] classification in the National Capital Region (NCR), the [MMDA] shall resume the implementation of its truck ban policy on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila starting May 17, 2021,” the agency said in an advisory Friday, May 14.
Under the MMDA’s existing truck ban policy, trucks are banned from traversing along major thoroughfares in Metro Manila managed by the MMDA, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The rule is in effect from Monday to Saturday.
“A total truck ban is enforced along EDSA, from Magallanes Interchange in Makati City to North Avenue in Quezon City, 24 hours from Monday to Sunday,” the advisory further read. ....

BOC confident no port congestion will occur amid truck ban

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) gave the assurance that ports would still be at manageable levels and no congestion will occur after a truck ban was reimposed on EDSA and C5 Road.
In a statement issued on Monday, Deputy Commissioner of Assessment and Operations Coordinating Group Atty. Edward James A. Dy Buco said the BOC will work with shipping lines and operators.
To ensure the unhampered delivery of services and avoid possible port congestion, the Bureau is closely coordinating with Shipping Lines and Terminal Operators as our proactive role in averting the unlikely event of port congestion,” Dy Buco said. ....
