Wayne Leslie Walters had marijuana in his system when he was intercepted driving along Knight Street, Park Avenue, at 6pm on February 18. Walters pleaded guilty to the charge in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on April 28. He addressed Magistrate Jason Schubert and said he had a joint one night because he had back spasms and it helped him relax at night to sleep. âI donât do it every night,â he said. âI have seen a doctor since and am now on an opioid to help me sleep. ....
Carl Maxwell Koina, 56, was caught drink-driving on the Bruce Highway at Maryborough, the day after he attended a 50th birthday party. Police intercepted Koina at 11.55am on February 21. He returned a blood alcohol content reading of 0.054. Koina told police that he had attended a party the previous night at the Sunshine Coast and was driving home to Yeppoon when he was intercepted. The court heard Koina had no previous similar history in the past five years. Magistrate Jason Schubert fined Koina $350 and disqualified him from driving for one month. A restricted work licence was granted for Koina s employment as a builder. ....

Skye Mcdiarmid, 39, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to possessing a mobile phone suspected of being used in a drug offence. The court heard that on March 4, police stopped a vehicle that Mcdiarmid was a passenger in and conducted a search for drugs. On Mcdiarmidâs mobile phone, officers found several messages that related to the supply of dangerous drugs. Mcdiarmid, a mother and housekeeper, told Magistrate Jason Schubert that she had previously been âassociated with the wrong crowdâ and she had now âgot away from thatâ for the sake of her children. ....
