1 એપ્રિલ, 1947માં AMTS બસ સેવાની શરૂઆત થઈ હતી

અમદાવાદની એક ઓળખ લાલ બસ, એટલે કે AMTS બસ. AMTSનું મુખ્ય બસ સ્ટેન્ડ લાલદરવાજા બસ ટર્મિનસ હવે હેરિટેજ લુક સાથેનું નવું બસ ટર્મિનસ બનશે. 65 વર્ષ જૂના બસ સ્ટેન્ડને હેરિટેજ લુક આપી નવું બનાવવા માટે ટેન્ડરિંગની પ્રક્રિયા પૂર્ણ કરી દેવામાં આવી છે. આગામી દિવસોમાં લાલદરવાજા બસ ટર્મિનસની કામગીરી શરૂ કરવામાં આવશે. હેરિટેજ લુક સાથેનું નવું બસ સ્ટેન્ડ કેવું હશે અને એમાં કેવી સુવિધાઓ હશે એના માસ્ટર પ્લાન સાથેની વિગતો સૌપ્રથમ DivyaBhaskar પર બતાવવામાં આવી રહી છે.
2022ના અંત સુધીમાં તૈયાર થઈ જશે બસ ટર્મિનસ
અમદાવાદ મ્યુનિસિપલ કોર્પોરેશન AMTS કમિટીના ચેરમેન વલ્લભભાઈ પટેલે DivyaBhaskar સાથેની વાતચીતમાં જણાવ્યું હતું કે લાલ દરવાજા બસ સ્ટેન્ડની આસપાસ ઐતિહાસિક ઇમારતો આવેલી હોવાથી દિલ્હીથી આર્કિયોલોજી વિભાગ પાસેથી મંજૂરી સહિત અન્ય પ્રક્રિયામાં વિલંબ થયો હતો, જે દૂર થતાં હવે આગામી દિવસોમાં નવું હેરિટેજ લુક સાથે બસ સ્ટેન્ડ બનાવવાની કામગીરી શરૂ થશે અને એક વર્ષમાં એટલે કે વર્ષ 2022ના અંત સુધીમાં બનીને અમદાવાદીઓને માટે શરૂ કરી દેવામાં આવશે.
રિનોવેશન માટે રૂ.4 કરોડ મંજૂર થયા હતા
વર્ષ 1955-56માં બનાવવામાં આવેલા લાલદરવાજા AMTS ટર્મિનસને બનાવવા માટે સ્વર્ણિમ જયંતી મુખ્યમંત્રી શહેરી વિકાસ યોજના વર્ષ 2016-2017માં રિનોવેશન માટે 1. 5 કરોડ અને 2017-18માં 2.5 કરોડ એમ કુલ 4 કરોડ રૂપિયા મંજૂર થયા હતા. વર્ષ 2018માં શ્રીજી કન્સ્ટ્રક્શન દ્વારા લાલદરવાજા બસ સ્ટેન્ડ પર પ્લેટફોર્મ નંબર 0 પર મુખ્ય બિલ્ડિંગ અને પ્લેટફોર્મ તોડી નાખ્યું હતું. રાણીપ મલ્ટીમોડલ હબના પ્રોજેકટને સફળતા મળે તો જ લાલદરવાજા ટર્મિનસનો PPE ધોરણે વિકાસ કરવાનું તત્કાલીન મ્યુનિસિપલ કમિશનરે જણાવ્યું હતું.
રાણીપ મલ્ટીમોડલ હબ પ્રોજેકટને હજી કોઈ સફળતા ન મળી હોવાથી અને કોરોનામાં આર્થિક સ્થિતિને જોતાં હાલના મ્યુનિસિપલ કમિશનર મુકેશકુમારે હેરિટેજ થીમ પર નેશનલ મોનુમેન્ટ્સ ઓથોરિટીની મંજૂરીની મળેલી સમયમર્યાદામાં કામ પૂર્ણ કરવા માટે મંજૂરી આપી હતી.
આર્કિયોલોજી વિભાગ પાસે પરવાનગી લેવામાં બે વર્ષ લાગ્યાં
વર્ષ 2019માં મંજૂર થયેલી દરખાસ્ત બાદ લાલદરવાજા ટર્મિનસના નવીનીકરણની કામગીરી શરૂ થવાની હતી, પણ બસ ટર્મિનસની 200 મીટર નજીક આવેલી હેરિટેજ ઇમારતને કારણે દિલ્હી સ્થિત આર્કિયોલોજી વિભાગ પાસે પરવાનગી લેવામાં બે વર્ષનો સમય લાગ્યો હતો. વર્ષ 2017માં 5.72 કરોડના ખર્ચે બનવાનું હતું.
જોકે લાલદરવાજા મજૂર મહાજન ઓફિસ પાસે 3 પ્લેટફોર્મ અને સોલર પેનલના રૂ. 15.75 લાખનો વધારો થતાં ટેન્ડરિંગની પ્રક્રિયા પૂર્ણ કરી દેવાયા બાદ અંદાજિત 6.5 કરોડના ખર્ચે અમદાવાદ શહેરનું નવું AMTS બસ ટર્મિનસ બનાવવામાં આવશે.
બસ ટર્મિનસની 200 મીટર નજીક આવેલી હેરિટેજ ઇમારતને કારણે આર્કિયોલોજી વિભાગ પાસે પરવાનગી લેવામાં સમય લાગ્યો.
1946માં તંગદિલ વધતાં નાગરિકોએ બસસેવા શરૂ કરવા માગ કરી
અમદાવાદમાં 1941માં સૌપ્રથમ વાર કોમવાદી રમખાણો થયાં હતાં અને વાતાવરણ 1946માં તીવ્ર બન્યું હતું. આવી કટોકટીના સમયગાળા દરમિયાન ખાનગી કંપનીઓ દ્વારા બસો બંધ કરવામાં આવી હતી અને તેથી નાગરિકો આવી વિકટ પરિસ્થિતિમાં અસલામતી અનુભવતા હતા. ખાનગી કંપનીઓ (ઑસ્ટિન અને સ્ટડબેકર)ની બસોની હાલત ઘણી ખરાબ હતી.
1947માં લાલ દરવાજાથી કલોક અને એન્ટિકલોક રૂટ શરુ કરવામાં આવ્યા હતા.
વ્યાવસાયિક સંસ્થાઓના કેન્દ્રમાં નફાકારક હેતુ હતો, તેથી નાગરિકે જાહેર પરિવહન સેવા માટે ભારે માગ કરી. અમદાવાદ મ્યુનિસિપાલિટીએ લોકોની મુશ્કેલીઓનો અંત લાવવા અને વાજબી દરે તેમને સારી સેવા આપવાનું ધ્યાનમાં રાખીને જાહેર ક્ષેત્રની બસસેવા શરૂ કરવાનું નક્કી કર્યું.
આઝાદીના સાડાચાર મહિના પહેલાં શરૂ થઈ AMTS બસસેવા
1-4-47ના રોજ, એટલે કે આઝાદીના સાડાચાર મહિના પહેલાં રસ્તા ઉપર 60 મ્યુનિસિપલ બસો દોડવામાં આવી હતી. નવી બસો માટે લોકોમાં ઘણી ઉત્તેજના જોવા મળી અને લોકો બસ માર્ગ પર મ્યુનિસિપલ બસો જોવા માટે ઊભા થવા લાગ્યા, કારણ કે જાહેર ક્ષેત્રની બસસેવા શરૂ કરવામાં અમદાવાદમાં સમગ્ર દેશમાં સૌપ્રથમ હતી અને નાગરિકોએ ખૂબ જ સરસ તેમનું સ્વાગત કર્યું હતું. શહેરના લોકોએ મ્યુનિસિપાલિટી દ્વારા શરૂ કરવામાં આવેલી બસસેવા માટે ગર્વ અનુભવ્યો હતો.
નવી બસોમાં બેઠકો ચમકદાર અને આરામદાયક હતી. બધા રૂટો લાલ દરવાજા (ભદ્ર) અને રેલવે સ્ટેશનથી શરૂ થયા હતા. અમુક નાના ફેરફારને છોડીને બધા રૂટ મોરિસ કંપની દ્વારા શરૂ કરાયેલા રૂટ અને રૂટ નંબર્સ લગભગ સમાન હતા, જેથી મુસાફરોને એ સમયે કોઈપણ સમસ્યાઓનો સામનો ના કરવો પડે.
