Alessandro Cortini is serious about his synthesizers. His studio is packed wall to wall with the vintage, the rare, and the arcane: towering modular rigs, vacuum-tube drum machines, obsolete-looking computer monitors, not to mention a bevy of coveted devices from every maker under the sun. When Cortini moved from Los Angeles to Berlin a few years ago, he affixed a GPS tracker to the shipping container carrying his gear, just so he could keep tabs on his precious cargo.
