Strongly believe the january six committee needs to do two things. they need to issue conclusions. if you think about the mueller report, he said he was prohibited for making conclusions. he had attorney general barr observed getting much of it. that is not the case. january six committee can say these are our conclusions, we believe donald trump did this and then whether it s recommendations or referrals barbers exactly right. the january six committee is not the place to fine-tune whether or not to prosecute charges based on the reality of getting a conviction. but they don t need to be that body. they could actually say, we have concluded that donald trump aided and insurrection or caused an insurrection. we believe he has obstructed an official proceeding. and we are recommending that the department of justice look at that, whether or not charges are brought. that comes down to special counsel. the reason they need to do this is for a matter of history. it is clear under the spir ....

Is for a matter of history. it is clear under the spirit of the law, donald trump wanted an insurrection, he wanted to obstruct an official proceeding. but also if they fail to offer conclusions and a recommendation, then this entire january six committee exercise will come under intense scrutiny for not having gotten to that conclusion that they really wanted. i think what you have david jolly teasing out there is undoubtedly a conversation that has already happened or is continuing to happen this weekend among members of the committee. there is the reality of what they choose to do, the way it will play out politically, the way it will play out historically. i do want to ask you, because i thought this detail got, at least for me, kind of buried in all the news that was happening on friday. you had chairman thompson hinting at the possibility of new evidence ahead of monday s hearing and i wonder if you have any sense of what that could be and what questions you sort of have unansw ....
