The Ontario Civilian Police Commission has ended the term of Malcolm Mercer as administrator of the Thunder Bay Police Service Board. Mercer, appointed two years ago to oversee a board and police service that were in turmoil, said he believes the reconstituted board and new chief are on the right track and functioning properly.
Calls to disband the force come as the former police chief and the force’s in-house were arrested earlier this month and charged with breach of trust and obstructing justice
A former police chief in the northern Ontario city of Thunder Bay was arrested and charged on Friday, marking the third arrest in an ongoing investigation by provincial police into allegations of misconduct at the force.
She is the second member of the force to face charges as part of the OPP's investigation into alleged misconduct in the force.
